• The Coache family and lawyers received new threats and intimidations because of their defense work.
• A criminal complaint was filed to Attorney General’s Office because of these occurrences.
• It is demanded that justice be guaranteed for the Coache Verano family and the defense attorneys involved in the case.

Alba Cruz Ramos, in charge of the legal activities of the 25th of November Committee, filed this very day a criminal complaint because of the threats and intimidations with the following identification code PGR/OAX/OAX/II/230/2009. These offences were made because of her role as a defender of human rights and a lawyer for various cases involving political prisoners and political assassins in the state of Oaxaca.

This past Saturday April 25^th she received a text message that said «C.ALBERTo you are on the list, bitch«, minutes earlier Mrs. Reyna Rivera, wife of Marcelino Coache had received a test message from the same telephone number with the following message: «We already warned that naughty midget that he stop fucking C ALBERTo». A third message received by the priest Wilfredo Mayrén said: «C .ALBERTo a band aid for the next time when we cut those you protect and the bitches from fucking human rights.»

We consider these threats to be due to the fact that attorney Cruz is part of the defense collective of a case denouncing the torture of Marcelino Coache Verano. It should be pointed out that attorney Cruz has already had a couple previous incidents of being threatened. This past March 8th her vehicle was attacked with kicks after having visited Radio Zaachila; where there were also a couple individuals that followed her, pushed her and stole a gold chain from her.

We remember all the harassment that the 25th of November Committee has been subject to since 2007, when its members, among others Alba Cruz, were granted precautionary measures from the Interamerican Commission of Human Rights on July 21^st, 2007; those measures still remain valid.

Because of all of this, the 25th of November Committee demands an investigation devoted to justice, and through this guaranteeing the mental and physical well-being of the Coache Verano family and other individuals involved in the defense of this case.
